ABOUT
Ian is an experienced dispute resolution attorney, with a focus on small business, real estate, and construction matters. His easement and boundary dispute practice has covered the entire State of Colorado. While he has a proven track record in trial and motions practice, he strives to help his clients avoid litigation whenever feasible. He is a firm believer in the value of alternative dispute resolution, mediation, and arbitration.
EDUCATION
Ian grew up in a small town in coastal Maine and attended Colby College in Waterville, Maine, majoring in International Studies and minoring in Music. Ian was a successful NCAA Division III Track & Field athlete, holding Colby’s 1500m record for seventeen years. After taking a gap year to work in Geneva, Switzerland, Ian moved to Colorado to attend the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He was elected by his peers to serve on the Executive Board of the Denver University Law Review, as Articles Editor, earning his J.D. in 2011.
EMPLOYMENT
During law school, Ian interned with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, the Colorado Attorney General's office, and Kaplan Kirsch & Rockwell LLP. After law school, Ian clerked for the Hon. Herbert L. Stern, III on a civil docket in Denver District Court. After his clerkship, Ian worked as a civil litigation associate with two large private firms in Denver. In 2017, he relocated to Steamboat Springs to join Steamboat Lawyers Group, where he has been a Partner since 2022.

Outside the office, Ian is an avid outdoorsman. He spends his free time exploring public lands with his wife, Erin, and son, Henry. He enjoys mountain biking, camping, whitewater rafting, fly fishing (poorly), reading, traveling, and cooking.
He is fluent in French.
